Six years of Genteel Handmade

Six years ago today I’ve cut an old leather belt and I started crafting my very first strap. Let me tell you how it all began.

I’ve always been fascinated about crafting & creating things with my hands. Since I was a child I’ve disassembled everything in my house only to assemble them back with my own hands.

My passion for watches started about seven years ago when I purchased my first automatic watch and I’ve been fascinating about the movement and its small details. After a few months, I’ve wanted to change the look of my watch and I’ve cut an old leather belt and started crafting my very first strap.

The quality of the strap didn’t match with the quality of my timepiece, so I invested in some crafting tools and started to perfectionate my crafting skills. I have to admit that the hand-stitching was the most difficult part to master. After hundreds hours of crafting I was finally satisfied with the finished product and decided to share my passion & skills, and I founded Genteel Handmade. My main goal with Genteel Handmade is, and always will be, to create unique watch straps that will last a lifetime. I create all my products entirely by hand, because I believe that a mass-produced strap loses its uniqueness and personality.
